As Technical Adviser for Helen Menhinick and her companies I joined in on a couple of days of this event as part of regular monitoring of her activities.

This residential event was based from Wigwam Holidays Hafren superior pod accommodation and the group were joined on one day by some non-residential participants who are members of Bryn Walking for Women. The walks I attended were:
  1. The Source of the River Severn (15km)
  2. Pen Pumlumon Fawr (752m) and the Source of the River Wye (10km)
The Source of the River Severn was from the Rhyd-y-benwch parking area in the Hafren Forest. National Resources Wales have done an excellent job in the area providing well waymarked trails and accompanying interpretation. There are walks for all abilities based out of this car park where there are public toilets.
Pen Pumlumon Fawr and the source of the River Wye were reached from the parking area (£5) at Eisteddfa Gurig on the A44. This is one of my favourite walks in the Cambrian Mountains and returns to Eisteddfa Guring via an old area of lead mines.
Helen Menhinick and Bryn Walking for Women are based in Newtown and offer regular activities for women in the Cambrian Mountains and Brecon Beacons National Park. National Navigation Award Scheme (NNAS) courses are offered on a regular basis. Other upcoming events include:
